Ali and Mark are high school sweethearts who love the thrill of a great bike ride, making Italian food from scratch, a fall night at the cabin and spending time with their family and friends. Mark is the Marketing Director for Draper Lifestyle Magazine and Ali is all things – from natural chef to animated bedtime storyteller- to their three beautiful little girls Siri, Jane and Ruby.
While Ali was pregnant with Ruby, they learned Ruby had a mass on the back of her head. After Ruby’s birth, the doctors concluded it was not cancerous and, after waiting for her to grow stronger for a couple years, surgically removed it.
During a routine scan of Ruby’s neck this spring, the tech inadvertently captured the top of Ruby’s lungs in the image. A CT scan soon followed confirming Ruby’s lungs are full of tumors and she was officially diagnosed with Melanoma.
And their family’s cancer fight began.
After battling through the frustrating and frightening web of insurance, paperwork, phone calls, and doctors’ appointments, Mark and Ali chose to begin Ruby’s treatment at Primary Children’s Medical Center where she is currently on her second round of Immunotherapy, specifically the drug Nivolumab.
The rarity of her situation means countless unknowns for the Thackery Family. Help us raise money and lift their spirits by gathering with our generous community at this event. All are welcome.
