2015 was a great year for Millie’s Princess Foundation. Here are just a few of the highlights:
In January we wrapped up the 2014-2015 Brighton High School fundraiser. For two months the students at Brighton held various fundraisers, culminating in the closing assembly. The students raised $30,000 for three children and their families fighting childhood cancer- Emma, Ethan and Grady.
The 2015 Superhero Bash was held in March. This event is open to any family with a child who has a life threatening illness. It is a great evening where these kids can be treated like the superheroes that they are.
On June 20th, we had our Fourth Annual Millie’s Princess Run at Sugarhouse Park. We raised money for Prince Landon and Princess Hazel.
The day was a huge success!! We were able to raise a record amount of money for our royalty. We are so grateful for the attendees, donors and volunteers that made the day possible!
In July, the National Institute of Medical Aesthetics invited us to be part of their birthday bash. Throughout the day, NIMA had specials on the services they offer, a silent auction, food trucks, cotton candy, face painting and more. Proceeds from the day were donated to Princess Jessica and her family.
At the end of July, the Royal Ball was held at the Living Planet Aquarium. The night is for any child with a life threatening illness. The evening included seeing the aquarium, hanging out with princes and princesses and a very royal dance party.
In August we traveled to Cedar City for the Dash for Nash. The evening included a bouncy houses, dinner, a raffle, a silent auction and 5K under the stars. The local community support for Nash and his family was absolutely amazing!
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. We did several things to raise awareness during the month. We created personalized Facebook cover photos and profile pictures in attempt to turn Facebook gold for the month.
We also featured stories of children with cancer.
In addition to asking families to share their stories, we asked for tips that were the most helpful for them. We shared these tips along with facts about childhood cancer.
In September we had the chance to attend the Fairytale Festival at the CenterPoint Legacy Theatre. We spent the weekend helping festival attendees make cards for cancer patients at Primary Children’s Hospital and raising awareness for childhood cancer.
On September 28th we celebrated Millie’s 10th birthday. We invited people to do random acts of kindness in Millie’s name and then share about them on social media. We had so much fun reading about the creative ways people honored Millie. People donated blood, gave out gift cards, donated food to food pantries, visited friends and much more. It turned a sad day into a beautiful one.
On November 2nd we attended the opening assembly for Brighton High School’s charity fundraiser. This year the students will be raising money for Devin, Elaina and Tyce. The fundraiser will run until the middle of January.
On November 13th we were part of a fundraiser for Alexis Gould at Cyprus High School. Alexis is a member of the Cyprus Spinnakers. The event had 20 dance teams from across the state that came together to support Alexis. There was also a raffle and silent auction. The support shown to Alexis and her family was very inspiring.
From November 30 to December 18, Corner Canyon High School raised money for three cancer fighters during their annual Chargers 4 Charity fundraiser. They held special events and did odd jobs to raise money for money for Ace, Bethany and Taylor.
During that same time period, Herriman High School raised money for their annual Hearts of Gold fundraiser. They also held events and did odd jobs as fundraisers. They raised money for AJ, William and Zach.
As you can see, we had a fantastic year!
Our fundraising total for 2015 was $176,672.61!!
We are looking forward to helping even more families in 2016. We could not do it without your continued support. We are so thankful for each of you!
